Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa and includes the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia.
Over 44 percent of Tanzania's land area is covered with game reserves and national parks. Tanzania has 16 national parks, 29 game reserves, 40 controlled conservation areas and marine parks.
Tanzania is also home to the famous ‘Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro where it is mountainous and densely forested.
Three of Africa's Great Lakes, lake Victoria, Tanganyika, and Nyasa, are partly within Tanzania.
