Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa and includes the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia.
Over 44 percent of Tanzania's land area is covered with game reserves and national parks. Tanzania has 16 national parks, 29 game reserves, 40 controlled conservation areas and marine parks.
Tanzania is also home to the famous ‘Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro where it is mountainous and densely forested.
Three of Africa's Great Lakes, lake Victoria, Tanganyika, and Nyasa, are partly within Tanzania.
Tanzania is home to Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, and many other amazing mountains. Tanzania is renown for its exotic wildlife, spectacular landscape and diverse African tribal groups.
Northern, southern + western safari circuits
The two main safari circuits in Tanzania are the Northern and Southern circuits.

This curciut includes some of Africa’s most iconic parks and reserves including Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Kilimanjaro National Park, Arusha National Park, and the Great Rift Valley lakes Natron and Eyasi.
To get to the northern safari circuit, the main entry hub is Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha -
The parks in this region are enormous, untouched, remote and teeming with a spectacular diversity of wildlife. Parks included in the southern safari circuit are Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha National Park, Mikumi National Park, and Udzungwa Mountains National Park.
To get to the southern safari circuit, the main entry hub is Dar es Salaam. -
It is one of the most inaccessible parts of Tanzania and it’s unspoiled wilderness makes it appealing for those who want to find the road less travelled.
Parks include Mahale Mountains National Park, Katavi National Park, & Gombe Stream National Park.
